File Sharing on Windows 10

Postby stu1178 » Sun Jun 19, 2016 1:05 pm

Hi,

I accidentally upgraded my computer to Windows 10. Most things worked fine and some features are more convenient. However, I found out I could not share files between my host machine and the virtual machine (I am using VMware Player) as the way I did before. I have spent quite some time trying to solve the issue but w/o luck. Has anyone get into similar issue and found a solution?

Thanks,

Magnolia

most likely, it is the setup in VMware. On the image in VMware, you can setup the share folder before you start the image OS.

Thanks. I forgot to enable shared folder in the VM. I tried and hoped that would solve the issue, but no luck... I googled and it seems that there are issues with file sharing on Windows 10. Microsoft has made a lot changes on this aspect.
Currently I do not have to use a virtual machine, so I will leave this issue open.
Hope other students will not get into such a problem.

I have got three solutions:
1. enable shared folders-check 'Map as a network drive in Windows guests'
2. use cloud drive or one drive to transfer files
3. both PCs install TeamViewer

good luck
